I have been shopping at Tesco for years, but I often forget my Club Card. This is really annoying, especially when I miss out on Club Card points after paying. After forgetting my card for the millionth time, I finally figured out how to add it to my iPhone Apple Wallet.
This has been a game-changer for me. Now, I don’t have to dig through my messy bag every time, only to realize I’ve forgotten my Club Card. It’s the coolest way I’ve found to stay organized and stress-free.
Let’s explore how I did that.
First, what is a Tesco Club Card?
If you are new to the UK or haven’t heard of it, the Tesco Club Card is a free loyalty program by Tesco. With the Club Card, you earn points when you shop. Basically 1 point for every pound you spend. You also get cheaper prices on many products marked with blue labels for Club Card prices. Additionally, you receive vouchers to spend in-store and online. You can even trade these vouchers with partner companies for better deals. For example, 150 points equal £1.50 in vouchers. It might not seem like much, but it adds up, especially with those weekly savings from using your Club Card.
Now, let’s dive into how to add your Tesco Club Card to your Apple Wallet!
Look, I’m forgetful and HATE carrying extra stuff. Having my Clubcard in Apple Wallet means:
The best part? It’s perfect for those self-checkout machines where you’re trying to scan stuff, pack bags, AND find your card all at once. So much easier!!
OK so here’s the annoying bit – Tesco doesn’t officially support Apple Wallet directly. Weird, right?? But I found a pretty easy workaround:
And that’s it! Your Clubcard will now show up in Apple Wallet. I made mine bright blue so it’s easy to spot.
If the above seems like too much hassle:
But this way you have to open the app EVERY time, which is why I prefer the Wallet method.
Once you’ve got it set up:
TIP: If you tap the (i) icon on your pass in Wallet, you can turn on “Automatic Selection” – then your phone will detect when you’re at Tesco and automatically bring up your Clubcard! I sometimes find this a bit glitchy though.
This is where it gets a bit meh – you can’t actually scan your Apple Wallet pass when shopping on Tesco.com. But don’t worry, you still get all the benefits!
Just make sure:
Then it automatically applies all Clubcard Prices and adds points to your balance. No scanning is needed.
Check if it’s hidden! Go to Wallet, scroll down, tap “Edit Passes” and make sure Tesco is toggled ON.
I had this issue – turned out my screen brightness was too low. Crank it up when scanning!
You’ll need to redo the process with Pass2U or edit the existing pass. Bit annoying but it doesn’t change often.
Check your location settings! Go to Settings > Privacy > Location Services > Wallet and set to “While Using”.
You CAN’T, sadly. The Wallet pass is just for identifying your Clubcard. For vouchers you still need to:
I usually just do this while waiting in the checkout line.
Yep! Apple Wallet is super secure – probably MORE secure than carrying the physical card which anyone could pick up and use.
100% yes! As long as they scan your barcode – whether from plastic card, app or Wallet – you get all the same benefits.
Yes! I have both my Clubcard AND my Tesco Credit Card in Apple Wallet. They’re separate things though.
Absolutely! Just scan your Wallet barcode on the handheld scanner when you start shopping.
Tesco really should just build this feature properly into their app! It’s weird they haven’t yet when so many other loyalty cards work natively with Apple Wallet.
That said, the Pass2U workaround is pretty decent once set up. I haven’t touched my plastic Clubcard in ages, and checkout is quicker.
The only real downside is having to use a separate app for vouchers, but I can live with that for the convenience of having one less card to carry.
If you shop at Tesco regularly and have an iPhone, seriously just do it – you’ll thank me later when you’re zipping through self-checkout while everyone else is still fumbling through their wallets!
Happy shopping (and saving)!
